Our education program brings environmental stewardship directly to the next generation. Education Coordinator Jade Smith partners with four Chadron schools, working within their preschool through middle school after-school programs to provide engaging, hands-on learning. Through fun lessons, creative crafts, and interactive games, students discover the importance of caring for the earth, reducing waste, and protecting their community. By making sustainability both exciting and accessible, we empower kids to take pride in their role as future stewards of the environment.

Keep Chadron Beautiful hosts monthly Recycling Drop-Off Days on the third Saturday of each month, giving community members a convenient way to recycle items like glass, tin, aluminum, and more. In addition, each spring we offer a Free Electronic Recycling Day, where residents can safely dispose of old electronics such as computers, TVs, and small appliances. Beyond community events, we’ve also implemented recycling programs in our public schools, teaching students the importance of stewardship while keeping valuable materials out of the landfill. Together, these efforts make it easy to build a cleaner, healthier Chadron for everyone.

Keep Chadron Beautiful makes recycling paper and cardboard simple! We offer office paper pickup for local businesses and schools—just collect your paper and we’ll take care of the rest. For cardboard, conveniently located bins are available throughout Chadron (for clean, flattened boxes only). Keep Chadron Beautiful is excited to offer Rural Roadside Cleanup Grants, providing funding to groups who want to make a difference in their community. We pay $50 per mile (typically in 4-mile sections) for roadside litter cleanup, and supply all necessary materials including garbage bags, gloves, and safety vests. This is a great way to raise funds while improving the environment. Applications are quick and easy, and payments are made quarterly once cleanup reports are submitted. Contact us for more details.
