Monthly Recycling Dropoff

Keep Chadron Beautiful is committed to making recycling simple and accessible for our community. Our monthly recycling event happens every third Saturday of the month from 9:00 a.m. to noon at the Nebraska State Bank parking lot. To help our volunteers and ensure the highest recycling rates, please sort your materials before dropping them off and follow the guidelines below.
What’s recyclable and how to bring it:
Glass bottles & jars – Bring in boxes, keep lids separate.
Steel & tin cans – Crushed is fine.
Aluminum cans – Crushed is fine.
Plastics #1–7 – Keep together but remove lids.
Milk jugs (#2 & translucent) – Separate from other plastics, remove lids.
Corrugated cardboard, paperboard (like cereal boxes), egg carton material, and paper bags – Bundle together.
Paper – All colors, shredded paper, newspapers, magazines, and shiny print can go together.
Keep all lids separate – We’re collecting them for a future community art project!
Batteries – Anything smaller than a car battery.
Rinsed styrofoam, chip bags, and fresh/frozen veggie & fruit bags – Group together.
Hefty® ReNew (Orange Bag) Program – Clean, Dry & Foil-Free:
These items must be clean, dry, and free of foil liners:
Plastic Bags & Wraps – Grocery bags, food storage bags, plastic wrap, bubble wrap, air pillows.
Foam Products – Foam cups, plates, bowls, to-go boxes, egg cartons, packing peanuts, foam block packaging.
Plastic Packaging & Wraps – Swiffer® pads, Duster refills, Wet Jet pads, chip bags, snack bags, candy wrappers, cheese stick packages, granola bar wrappers, stand-up pouches, pudding/yogurt tubs, butter/margarine tubs, sour cream tubs, dry mix liners, cereal box liners.
Plastic Dinnerware & Small Plastics – Plastic straws, stirrers, utensils, colored cups, plates, bowls, rigid clear cups, sauce cups.

Office Paper Pickup
Keep Chadron Beautiful makes recycling office paper easy for local businesses and schools! If your workplace or classroom collects paper, we can arrange to pick it up and ensure it’s properly recycled. This service is a simple way to reduce waste and keep valuable materials out of the landfill while supporting a cleaner community. Contact us today to be added to our pickup route and start making a difference right from your desk.
Electronic Recycling
Each year in late spring, Keep Chadron Beautiful hosts a Free Electronic Recycling Day, giving our community a safe and responsible way to dispose of old electronics such as computers, televisions, and small household devices. This event is offered at no cost to residents, helping keep harmful materials out of our landfills while promoting sustainability. Stay tuned for our 2026 date and join us in making a positive impact on our environment!
Cardboard Recycling
Keep Chadron Beautiful makes recycling cardboard easy and convenient with designated cardboard bins located around town. These bins are specifically for clean, flattened cardboard, which our team regularly picks up and recycles to keep it out of the landfill. By using these community bins, you’re helping reduce waste, conserve resources, and support a cleaner, greener Chadron.
